DELIVERY
Language instructional programs used in Carteret County Public Schools:
PULL-OUT ESL:
Description: In the pull-out model, the LEP students receive the majority of their instruction in the regular classroom. The primary and elementary students are pulled out of their regular classroom on a recurring basis to receive English language instruction and content area support. The curriculum followed by our ESL program is outlined in the NC English Language Development Standard Course of Study.
ESL CLASS PERIOD MODEL
:Description: The middle and high school LEP students are assigned to the ESL teacher for a block of time for English language instruction as a part of their daily schedule. They also receive support in the content area taught in the regular classroom.

program is outlined in the NC English Language
Development Standard Course of Study.
SIOP MODEL
:Description: The SIOP model promotes English language development and academic language and helps to make grade level content accessible. Principles of this model are used by both the classrooms teachers as well as the ESL teachers.
INCLUSION MODEL:
Description: The ESL teacher assists the regular classroom teacher with the instruction of the content to make it more accessible to the English language learner as well as all other learners. This is a co-teaching model.
