SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

“SUMMER DAY CAMP”:  With grant monies, we are able to offer Summer Day Camp activities for our limited English proficient students (ages 4-12) through the Morehead City Parks and Recreation program.  This opportunity is offered to our children who are most at risk for losing language skills during the summer months and who qualify economically. 

“JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CARTERET”:  This is a two week summer enrichment program for Morehead Middle School’s limited English proficient and academically intellectually gifted children.  The summer program provides educational and recreational activities throughout the community – promoting cultural and community inclusion.  The LEP and AIG students pair up to share language, culture and friendships.

“BIG SCHOOL”:  The “Big School program”, sponsored by Title I, is a one week, half-day, program for limited English proficient children who will attend kindergarten in the fall.  The program provides an orientation to kindergarten and is held in August prior to school opening.
