Information On Reduction In Force
(RIF) Polices And Regulations Shared
In the Carteret County
Public School System,
staff members have been working diligently to protect the quality of
education and the progress that has been made in student
achievement. Information received from the state indicates funding
will be lost next year and that information has been shared with
staff members. To deal with the loss of state and federal funds,
the school system will unfortunately lose positions across the
county. Should there be a reduction in force (RIF), policies and
regulations have been prepared to make sure a plan is in place that
treats every employee as fairly as possible and still protects the
quality of education students receive.
The
reduction in force policies and regulations are posted below. Please
review these documents. Principals or supervisors will discuss the
policies and regulations with school staff at a meeting that he/she
will schedule. A list of frequently asked questions along with the
answers will be posted at this site and will be updated frequently.
The budget crisis is difficult and heartbreaking when one sees the
impact it will have on staff and students. Please know every staff
member is appreciated and the work each does is valued.
